When working without a diploma I would make sure the procedure of your job application is legal and that you won't end up working illegally, be it that you didn't need your diploma. If you get caught working illegally you might not be able to enter Türkiye again for at least the coming years. I would be very suspicious if I was not asked for my diploma, and if I were not I would make sure that the procedure would go professional and by law.

Yine Mi Çiçek - Sezen Aksu

Another flower?

Kur masayı Madam Despina
Kirli beyaz, muşamba örtüleri ser
Çek sediri asmanın altına.
Yanında bir ince Müzeyyen abla

Set the table, Lady Despina,
Spread the dirty white, oily tablecloths
Pull the divan under the vine (i think vinyard is meant)
And a soft Müzeyyen's song too, sister

Yine mi güzeliz, yine mi çiçek
Hamdolsun!
Taze mi bitti topik
Canın sağolsun
Amanın, yine mi güzeliz
Yine mi çiçek
Hamdolsun!
Altınbaş kadehe yağ gibi dolsun

Are we beautiful again? Another flower?
God be praised!
Did the topik (a dish) finnish fresh? (was it eaten while it was still fresh?)
It doesn't matter
Oh my, are we beautiful again?
Another flower?
God be praised!
May the (alcohol)glass be filled like oil with Altinbas.
(Let the raki flow freely..)

Gece çok genç, arzular şerare
Haber etsek o yare
Gelse Bomonti'den
Şereflendirse bizi
Olsak teyyare

The night is young, the desires are (like a) spark
Let's inform that lover that he/she may/should come from Bomonti
May he/she honor us
As if we were 'teyyare' (i dont know what it is)

Yine mi güzeliz yine mi çiçek
Hamdolsun!
Taze mi bitti topik
Canın sağolsun
Amanın, yine mi güzeliz
Yine mi çiçek
Hamdolsun!
Altınbaş kadehe yağ gibi dolsun

Are we beautiful again? Another flower?
God be praised!

I couldn't translate much better than the translationt hat already was given, but I had translated this song in my mind in the bus a few weeks ago, so thot id give it another try. I do know that it is about a relationship in which they had a fight and he comes home with flower. She sings 'another flower?' like.. will we keep going on fighting and making it right? I think some parts are a little sarcastic (God be praised. Oh my etc.)

How can I make him understand I don't want to marry him yet?

I really don't want to sound harsh Katee, but if in a relationship (no matter what cultures involved), you find a strong difficulty to 'make someone understand' something, especially considering marriage, then something is wrong.

Two people who love each other only marry when both are ready and usually one starts to carefully open this topic only when sure the other one is ready to discuss in the first place (this may sound funny but I have a friend who was madly in love but couldnt say the words 'i love you' and when her bf said them to her she would freak out. This time has passed but she cant think of marriage yet. All things come in time.)

Would someone who knows you very well give you a romantic proposal if he/she wasn't a full 100% sure that the answer was gonna be 'yes'? No..

Yes there are loads of them! MSN groups - go and have a look, type in Turkey or Turkish and you will find them.

I did.. Some serious holiday-resort-workers-bashing going on there!! Giving full detailed descriptions, calling people by their names and say that they are liars
Never seen anything like it before, and I can't say I like it...

Me neither :-S Sometimes the bashing is so harsh that I can't help but feel sorry for these men. And after all, I can't help but think that most of these women must be either very naive or shallow to believe in such a love in the first place Or is this very short-sighted of me?

Ohh well Im off to clean my 'old' bedroom before I deserve to spend my time here.

Haha! That's well thought.

Well I think every Dutch family owns bicycles, but we don't really have hills

I could not give you any website, but in a Dutch book I read about websites that give 'black lists' of Turkish entertainment team workers that you'd rather not get involved with (the 'usual' and wellknown visa, money and sex trouble).

when i saw mavi jeans in Anhorage 5th avenue mall..

Anhorage 5th avenue mall? Are we supposed to know where it is?

I suppose this whole discusion is already not up-to-date anymore but.. doesn't sound Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall rather English to you? Doesn't it ring a bell that Ramayan is trying to point out that he saw a Turkish brand in this mall which OBVIOUSLY has a foreign address, most likely US, could have been UK but less likely?

So its not even the point which country it exactly is, but more the fact that it was in a foreign one, which was obvious from its address.

I didnt understand why you needed to post such a rude, semi-smart answer. And I might wanna add that words like 'un-fucking-believeble' sound rather funny, especially when they are not used by a native.

Your contribution to this site in matter of language-explanations is great and from experience I can tell your explanations are clear and good, dont ruin that by posts like this.

Thread: Cheap hotels / pansiyons in Antalya??

Does anybody know a cheap, but friendly and clean, small hotel or pansiyon in Antalya?

We don't need it to have airconditioning, central heating or any other luxury. Just a double bed and a small bathroom. We can bring our own electric blanket Idea is to keep the costs as low as possible as we will spend most of our time outside anyway.

In Çesme we stayed in such a pansiyon for only around 15 ytl a night (12 if the double room was used singular). We are looking for such a cheap and small place because we plan to go to antalya for a few days at the end of january, beginning of feb.

Thanks in advance.
