Thinking...

I need to get started. Studying, exercising, dieting, saving.... All those things I promised to start 'on Monday'.

Offff I feel tired alredy. I need a lie down. I didn't say which Monday, did I?

Hahaha Funny as ever ha?

Well, I did get started.. and I went to see my doctor's to get vaccinated for Türkiye (Dutch organisations advice to getvaccinated if you go for a period longer than 3 months). So I was thinking I would just get ONE vaccine, as I needed Hepatite B.

Well I was WRONG. I needed a repetition of Difteria, Tetanus and Polio (one vaccine), one against Salmonella Typhi.. and the Hepatite B exists of THREE needles!! BLEH!

I'm filled with vaccines now! And the three B vaccines go with a month period in between.. so before I go another one.. and a month after arrival again!!

I wish I didn't get started today And tomorrow I'm going to my dentist.

Ohh I promise I'll do the windows while Elisa is ironing if only I could get away from the rain here too. And.. NO needles.

I think it is about time the post was blocked - some of the postings are so insulting and amount to verbal abuse of this young girl.

Yes it must be so comforting for Miss Ceyda - not only is she bullied and abused at home, but on this website also.

Dont worry really, lets just ignore all the posts that need to be ignored... They are not important and really arent worth the time of day to even read

You are really right, but the post was just not acceptable as it was so disrespectful. Sophie is right that whenever you post your personal life public, you should take the consequences of the reactions. But no one should talk rude or disrespectful to another member.

I was annoyed by the 'fucked' and 'shitty' post too, because I don't like that way of talking. But it was no rude attack on someone personally.

The reason Erdinç didn't delete it, is because he is no longer a moderator in the off-topic forums. You have to turn to admin or bod to get it done, as they are the mods on this forum.

Mine too

I heared on the news they don't mean to kill people, they only want to scare the tourism away, so that Turkey will get into trouble. But mistakes are easily made. I can't believe they take such risks with human lives to scare tourism away!!

Well, I think Istanbul can be hectic, but if you take the time, I'm sure you can find peaceful places near Bosporus too!

Where does Omer live? I would make that my priority, as it will be strange to be in Turkey but not be with your lover.

I'm sure you can figure something out. The pool-thing Meltem said sounds really tempting.. and I don't even like swimming

You have me very curious- I am going to look into Izmer... I am not a city person, and I long to escape Philadelphia in the summer...

Thank you!

Well.. Izmir is a big city (for Dutch standards )> it has between 2 and 3.5 million inhabitants. But compared to Istanbul, it is nothing

You can easily escape the city-life though and what I experienced in the three times I've been there, is that the life is not hectic but really peaceful. The traffic is just great! They drive like Turks do (crazy!), but because everybody does so, the traffic seems to go so smooth.

There is a nice ferryboat going from one side of the city to another. I found it really relaxing. I wish I needed to take the ferry to my university Then everyday if i got up early, I would be pissed at my alarm and want to sleep more, but as soon as i'd be on the sea, everything would be well

I took a quick look and they are in Antalya and Alanya as well. But I think that the level of courses may vary from city to city.

If I were you I'd inform a bit, maybe they have an exam to state what course level you should take.

Before I choose my course at EGE Üniversitesi, I also went to Tömer-office in Izmir. I loved it there. It was right in the city-centre, close to sea, in a beautiful shopping alley and the building was nice and cold Their classes usually are with only 8 students, so you get a lot of attention. Everybody recommended me Tömer too.

Thank you for the link! Bebek was recommended because it was so close, and also nice. I'm hoping to find a one bedroom apartment with airconditioning for around 600-700 YTL amonth. Do you think I'm too hopeful?

I see the Topek link is an Ankara University program, I will now search for Istanbul.

(by the way- Istanbul is definitely not my preference- I prefer to be south on the Med. sea- but I was told I would never find Turkish language classes for English speakers there)

Well Izmir has Tömer too. It is Aegean region and lovely to stay as you can make day trips to the beaches in Çesme and to the fishers-village Foça. I've never been to Istanbul, but for a language course I think Izmir is more peaceful.

You should try to find out, maybe Antalya has language courses too.

About the rent: I have no idea for Istanbul. I think you can find what you need around that price, but finding a one-bedroom appartment is always difficult. Usually they have 2 bedrooms. Costs for apartments in Izmir are cheaper. between 400-500 YTL.

I hope I don't sound like I'm promoting Izmir so much as it was not my intention

I've always heard that Tömer courses are very good. They have summer courses in Istanbul as well.
About renting an apartment in Bebek, I think you might want to stay in an other area, since Bebek is a quite expensive place..

Yes, Tömer was one of the first official Turkish language foundations and they have courses at several levels. Their instructors are supposed to speak good English which will be practical for a summercourse (my annual course is only Turkish, no English). They are quite expensive though, but probably the university course you mentioned is expensive too.

I don't know where Omer lives, but Tömer is also situated in Izmir and Ankara.

About the apartments..inform about them well. My current houseowner was makign trouble of the fact that I'm not Turkish and also..I needed a 'guarantee' (I don't know the english word for it), who was Turkish and who had a proper job. In case anything goes wrong, Kadir's Ayşe Teyze put her signature to cover the costs that I make if I suddenly run away or get broke and won't be able to pay the rent. You might need someone like that too. Though I think it depends on the houseowner and the period that you will stay too.
