fıstık is a big compliment!! It indeed does mean something like a beautiful woman, but can also refer to like.. sexy, chick etc.

If you say 'my lover feeds me fıstık' , it means he takes real good care of you

But now I'm confused if that was really fıstık (pistachio) or fındık (hazelnut). Maybe it was even both

I read that birthdays aren't that much celebrated in Turkey.

In Holland they are a pretty big deal.. children get loads of gifts, children's parties are being organised, birthday-cards are being send from all the family.. etc..

Also, there are special birthdays in Holland. 16 is a special one, as it allows you to go out, to drink alcohol, to get your scooter-license.. 18 is the official date for not being a child anymore etc.. and then we have 21, which is the date for mature independence (something like that).

In Türkiye, do they have special ages like that too? Is 21 one of them?

What do they do on birthdays? From my Turkish neighbours I remember that the girls didn't really get presents but that they got a new dress and that there was a huge barbecue in the garden with all their friends and family.
