Quoting RICK:

WHY ARE THE POEPLE HERE? ONLY COZ OF THEIR BF AND GF? OH COME ON PLEASE BE SMARTER... THERE SHOULD BE MUCH BETTER REASONS

It seems that there are some people who use this site purely so they can get messages to and from their bf/gf translated. Personally I cannot understand why they don't actually try and learn the language. But they are by far the minority!!!

For me, I visit Turkey last year with my girlfriend and we fell in love with the country and it's people so much that we immediately booked to go back again. We both decided to try and learn a little Turkish for when we return. I have always been useless at languages but I seem to have fallen for the Turkish language as much as I have for the place itself.

So I suppose my reason to learn is learning for its own sake - I can communicate with my girlfried in English (we are both English natives!). Whilst the initial reason to learn was because of visiting again, learning has now become an end in itself.

And can someone also tell about more formal letters, and how you would address and signature those. The sort of letters you would write to a company.

"Tık-la-mak" means "to click"

Thank you!
That seems to be missing from the dictionary

About the finding the word root I can't find a way to describe it. I was taught finding the root at my primary lessons and obviously I forgot

It would be quite helpful if you could remember!!!

I am very confused about where and how "eder" is used. I can't find a translation of it in the dictionary (other than as "pricelist" lol).

In another thread mltm wrote:
Kediler ve köpekler birbirleriyle kavga ederler.
Kedi ve köpek birbirleriyle (or birbiriyle) kavga eder.

And what about in:
Teşekkür ederim

Can anyone help me to understand the use of this better - thanks!

your sentence is correct...but we give no merits...

Just to know that I got it correct is merit enough
The problem is not knowing if it is right or wrong!

(biz) iste-di-k: means we want.
End of the word we add the -k suffix instead of we. This way we can omit we.

Surely iste-di-k or iste-dik means "we wanted" or "we did want" as it is past tense!
