Thread: EUROPEAN UNİON AND TURKEY- A Friendly Voting..:)

merhaba!
the EU membership implies meeting political and economic cryteria and athough it was designed as an economic entity, the Union- after the Maastricht Treaty- has developed as a political organism
regarding the Turkey EU membership, further steps should be taken in order to meet the political cryteria (the EU Report published last month clearly states this)
I sincerely hope that what is now a perspective to turn one day into a certainty; Turkey is a major player in the stability of the region and has proven it as a NATO member. Still, the EU has additional tests which must be passed!

my recommendation is the REDHOUSE Dictionary (Turkce-Inglizce/ Ingilizce-Turkce)- a classic
I have two of them- a small one (for the pocket, having actually a red cover) and a bigger one (with a blue cover)- and they are of great help!

....what about the pronouns?

e.g. Instead of us, the teacher gave him the prize.
Instead of you, my mother likes them.
Instead of me, my father wrote him the letter.
Instead of him, I admire his sister.

merhaba!
which is the grammar rule for "instead of..."?

e.g.: Instead of chocolate, I want an apple
Instead of milk, I drink coffe
Instead of watching TV I read a book.
Instead of going on holliday I prefer staying home
Instead of meeting Ismail, Ayla preffered going to the theatre.

selams!
what an interesting topic you have posted!
and no reply yet????
I am quite surprised, actually...I would expected a real debate!
maybe people are more interested in things related to "falling in love" and less with those related to "falling out of love"

I do have hopes, still!

Quoting TeresaJana:

I am studying the Question Sentences portion here on TC...
In the question: Ahmet nereye gitti? ...there is not an example answer...like Ahmet eve gitti. Or is the answer the same as 'Ahmet eve gidiyor' as in the answer example
for the previous question "Nere Ahmet gidiyor?

I am not quite clear which is your question, but....

Nereye gidiyorsun?= where are you going?
anneme gidiyorum. = I'm going to my mother

nereye gitin?= where did you go?
koye gittim.= I went to the village

nereye gideceksin?= where will you go?
turkiye'ye gidecegim.= I will go to turkey

hmm I wonder if on those (in)famous beaches they have warning signs like 'beware of sharks and playboys'

no there is no signs...we are poor of signs...but those sharks are not so wild..they first check around and make discovery then attact...so you should always be awake

and pls chew the fruit pieces bfor you swallow(i saw it in an ice cream shop in usa) so funny..we dont have signs like that

true...you never know till you try
and a piece of advice from a wise man regarding the only...so called "true love": "those who believe that all fruits are ripe when cherries are, shall know nothing about grapes"
