- The sentence is so rotten it´s no use to try to correct it, maybe it´s not even understandable. For some cases yes.

         - The sentence is clumsy and funny but not bad enough to be cancelled. also sometimes yes.

Or maybe both at the same time? yes

Ouch, I don´t know if this is very sharp-eyed psychology or what but it wouldn´t work with most people.

It´s an interesting motivation for gerek- but not an unusual one. One of the things that often take language (and the world outside language as well) forward is misunderstanding.

How ´bout these?

cuşidan = to boil in Farsi -> cuşiş is noun form of the same root

cuşiş was misinterpreted as coş-uş (a verb and -iş suffix) and voila we have created a new verb coş-mak. Normally Turkish words do not begin with a "c".

I speculate that the same thing happened for cay-mak (misinterpreting cay-iş from Farsi the same way) (Nişanyan sözlük gives some Turkish roots but mentions that this verb cannot be attested before 15th century so I may be right)

And in slang language:

manyak = maniac is misinterpreted as manya-k (iste-k, dile-k etc) and then a new verb is created; manya-mak.

This manyamak is a nice one. Is it a transitive verb? Innovations like this are possible and even probable in languages which derive new words.

In the long run, analogy might be a part of language development and what we see as funny incidents (or accidents) can actually show how new rules come to life. After all, the great majority of language users cannot distinguish their head from their toe.

Quote:Wikipedia, Analogy

Analogy is often presented as an alternative mechanism to generative rules for explaining productive formation of structures such as words. Others argue that in fact they are the same mechanism, that rules are analogies that have become entrenched as standard parts of the linguistic system, whereas clearer cases of analogy have simply not (yet) done so (e.g. Langacker 1987.445–447).

I tend to think this way. What we see now is just a momentary view but actually everything in language is in action, moving somewhere.

İntransitive. And only in slang language. In regular language we have

manyak-laşmak = to become (like) a maniac

I have been thinking a lot how to do this in another way. It’s unconscionable to ask for something all the time and I am not unconscionable. But I have nowhere else to ask and this is how things are at the moment.

I changed some to get better meanings. Other than that, they are not wrong grammatically.

"nere" is a derivative of "ne" (what) and means where or what place. You can use it anyway you would use any noun.

with case suffixes:

nere-yi? (accusative)

nere-ye? (dative)

nere-de? (locative)

nere-den? (ablative)

with derivational suffixes:

nere-li?

nere-lik?

nere-siz?

nere-ci?

with possessive suffixes:

nere-m?

nere-n?

nere-si?

nere-miz?

nere-niz?

nere-leri?

etc.etc.

Of course I know it now when I see the different forms. One should always keep in mind that any Turkish word with more than two syllables can be split into pieces and modified like a toy train. Thanks again.
