PART 25,

Shahid had noticed the angry tone in my voice, however he couldn't understand what the matter was. And how should he know! This was a game that occured every evening between me and the girls. The moment I looked in their eyes they would understand what I was going to order; when they came near me, as soon as I said "tea..." they would add immediately "with milk...", grinning. When I attempted to order food; they would bring the end of the order: "Sprite... has to be not cold!". My angry appearance would amuse them.
I have earned enough time to let my friend think. I asked again:
- Have you decided what will you eat my dear Shahid?
Shahid said:
- Yes.." and added turning to Aida:
- I want the same order as of mr. Fatih's".
In the jukebox at the bar "the song of Vladimir" was playing. Although I didn't understand the words, I loved this song. I felt sorry for (pitied) myself because eventhough I have lived here for two and a half years, I couldn't learn Russian.

Even if we stand and watch the time that's flowing away,
actually time is a great cure for endless hopes,
wishing your hopes come true in your new age,
happy years.

as leameus commented: başkasına üzülürüz
so we use the verb "üzülmek" when being sorry for someone else

so hayıflanmak means "feeling sorry for myself/ourselves"...
in another dictionary I also found that it means: to bewail, to lament, to bemoan

well, metehan2001 used it this way (part 25 of his story):
"Rusçayı öğrenemediğim için bir kere daha hayıflandım"-
I felt sorry once again for not learning Russian
