it looks strange though, because if it meant "I would like, but I don't have a friend" it should have been: "isterdim fakat arkadaşım yok"

I'm not sure how exactly to say it in Turkish but "Ali has let me and Ayse down" means "he has disappointed us" (maybe: Ali beni ve Ayşe'yi hayal kırıklığına uğrattı ?)
