THINGS YOU CAN ONLY SAY AT CHRISTMAS

1: I prefer breasts to legs.

2: Tying the legs together keeps the inside moist.

3: Smother the butter all over the breasts.

4: If I don´t undo my trousers, I´ll burst !

5: I´ve never seen a better spread!

6: I fancy a little dark meat for a change.

7: Are you ready for seconds yet ?

8: It´s a little dry, do you still want to eat it ?

9: Just wait your turn, you´ll get some !

10: Don´t play with your meat !

11: Stuff it up between the legs as far as it will go.

12: Do you think you´ll be able to handle all these people at once ?

13: I didn´t expect everyone to come at the same time !

14: You still have a little bit on your chin.

15: How long will it take after you put it in ?

16: You´ll know it´s ready when it pops up.

17: Just pull the end and wait for the bang.

18: That´s the biggest bird I´ve ever had !

19: I´m so full, I´ve been gobbling nuts all morning.

20: Wow, I didn´t think I could handle all that and still want more.

Here´s my musical contribution to the topic {#lang_emotions_angel}

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehljR3Qr9yU&feature=related

I have mixed feelings about the covering up of Muslim women. On one hand I couldn´t care less what one chooses to wear and for whatever reason (if it´s a choice indeed, for many women it´s not, and that´s something I´d have a problem with). What I don´t buy into is the whole notion that it is the women´s fault if men have sexual thoughts about them. If men have a problem looking at women, then maybe they are the ones that should not be looking instead of forcing women to cover up like that. I don´t get what is immodest about hair or neck or arms. And even if, for some reason, some men were getting wild beyond the ability to self-restrain while getting a peek of some hair, wouldn´t exposure to said hair make the hair loose their sexual luster after a while? Isn´t it the forbidden fruit that´s the temptation? If anything, I think that the covering is making the women more of sexual objects, not less. But that´s just my opinion. Obviously, I don´t know enough about Islam to appreciate the whole cultural and religious significance of hiding behind scarfs and burkas, it just seems to me another chauvinistic way to control women.

 {#lang_emotions_flowers}

It looks like the original 10 sections for Beginner 1, and the 10 sections for Beginner 2 are now 5 sections each for Beginners 1-4. I hope answers for self-checking some sections will be included. There is obviously lots of work and thought gone into this. Hopefully it will improve the efficiency and cope with the expected demand for free courses.

HI Henry I believe that the multiple choice section of the homework will come with answers so we can mark our own homwork, freeing up the teachers to answer question and check written homework....

And what I said was that in environments where there are arranged marriages, there are different values then ´individual happiness´, the community is more important then the individuals, and men are always the authority... so I think that although arranged marriages are not probably the direct cause, but the culture behind arranged marriages seems to be the same culture that supports that kind of behavior... That´s only my ´thoughts´ though...

I understand exactly the point you are making ........ thats why I was asking the question... do men/woman  find this type of behaviour acceptable in turkey ?  and im not just asking about arranged marriages, however my thoughts are

not all people who drink are alchoholics, and not all people who take drugs become drug addicts....... its not the drug is the user........ not everyone in an unhappy marriage resorts to physical or domestic violence.

doesnt it take a certain personality to physically and verbally abuse a partner... or is this sort of behaviour tolerated, or even encouraged in certain communities therefore it has become acceptable

I know it happens in my country, but it is certainly not seen as an acceptable behaviour.

I would like to think, as i said earlier, anyone who finds this sort of behaviour disgusting and shameful, and is witness to it, are willing to speak their  minds ....... no matter what your background it doesnt give anyone the right to abuse another person,  maybe by changing the views of society we can put a stop to this behaviour....

Quoting CANLI

Cat,i live in a community where all marriages were arranged about 50/60 years ago, almost all,and the exception was the otherwise.

So no,i cant say it is part of the problem.

The man who is capable of doing such things to a woman, would do it if he likes her/love her or not

There will be a time when he will say ´Ãm sorry honey, but you drove me to this...forgive me´

But the net result is....he already did.

Not because the marriage was arranged or not,but because the defect is within him!

very wise words Canli........... I do not think we can use arranged marriages as an excuse for this type of disgusting behaviour..... I know many men who would never sink so low as to abuse a woman physically or verbally no matter what their situation.... like you said the problem is the mans alone.  For what reason I dont know, perhaps upbringing or perhaps because this kind of behaviour is tolerated in the society around them.

What I would like to know is in turkey how is this behaviour veiwed by other turkish men... do they find this sort of behaviour acceptable, is it something to be proud of?

I am sure there are many men  who find this sort of behaviour as disgusting and shamefull as i do... what we need is an enviroment of zero tolerance....men/woman  who verbally and physicaly abuse their wives/husbands/partners should be made to feel  completely ashamed of their behaviour and understand that what they are doing is wrong and completley unacceptable in society no matter what their financial, marritial, family situation maybe... there is no excuse for this type of behaviour....

and I would hope that any person who is witness to this type of behaviour, maybe in their extended family or friends, will have the courage to speak out ... zero tolerance

i read this man´s book....open minded about his way....and just stopped without even planning to it was really weird , as I have been trying for ages......have not craved one either....I think I had just had enough

thanks for that Lesluv .... I see he does stop smoking sessions in my area, its always a possibility if im really struggling...... £230.00 for the session, which i guess is only 7 or 8 weeks cigarette money

I will go with the willpower for the moment, and maybe use the £230.00 for flights to turkey

Quoting TheAenigma

This is horrific   I don´t know much about family social services, but from my observation it does seem that the emphasis is too much on helping the parents, rather than the children.    Yet another story today about two children stabbed....

I do think that much of the problem is now cultural here.  Women (especially young women) have bizarre reasons for having children (including "to get out of school", "because I thought it would make my boyfriend stay with me", "because I wanted to get more money from social services"  because it is socially acceptable to have babies at any age (married or unmarried).

My comment sounds far more conservative than I actually am, but I just think that there is a social/cultural problem in the UK and it´s effects are increasingly frightening.  I don´t really know what the answer is

I can completely understand why you think that the system is here to help the parents... but from my point of view, I am here to help and support the children, and sometimes the best way to help the children is to help the parents to become better parents... You are completely correct about many young mothers and fathers  having children because they get financial support and housing....if there is no evidence that the child is at risk then you have to work to allow that child to have a  happy home life with parents who can cope    ...I wont go into my experience of parenting classes and detox programms.. it would take too long

but what i would like to say there is still too much red tape in some areas of the uk and too little in other parts of the uk.......

in the last week I spent 3 hours interviewing a parent because their child failed a maths exam and made a silly comment "my mum is going to kill to me, im in big trouble when i get home" some teacher decided that according to legislation it would be right to report this comment".....another 3 hours spent this week interviewing a parent because their child fell off a wall and had been to the hospital for another incident in the past 6 months.... I discussed this with my colleagues who feel that doing something is better than nothing... but what happened to common sense?

so what i ask myself is how can the child protection in my area be so aggressive and this baby was seen 60 times.....and no one did a thing

I dont have the answers... just in my region we were inspected on our child protection and we go a good report on most aspects apart from sharing information with other agencies

I dont know the in´s and out´s of this case but perhaps if agencies were more willing to share information this could be prevented in the future

and i cant belive i have gone on and on about this... but its something i feel very passionate about......

I was wondering if beginner 1 and 2 class have sat their exams yet?  And if the exmas are ready are you going to post them on the turkish class forum, so that the tc members  who are not actually in a class, but have been doing the lessons can have a go at the exam.... I know it wont be marked but it would be fun to give it a try....... and im sure my friend would mark it for me

I´d call these people animals - except it would be an insult to animals.  And as for the social services involved.........I hope they can live with themselves.

 This story is just heartbreaking......It is just incomprehendible how anyone could abuse and torture are little innocent child... I have been working in child proctection for over 10 years, but not in England.... If this child have been under my umbrella or care when this happened, I know I certainly could not live with myself........{#lang_emotions_cry}
