CALMNESS IN OUR LIVES  

   I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we
could all use a little more calmness in our lives.

   By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can

   Dr Phil proclaimed, ´The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all
the things you have started and have never finished.´  
   
    So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and
hadn´t finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I
finished off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey´s Irish
Cream, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac
pre[script]ion, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of
chocolates.  

   You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now.

Thank you for posting a fragment of Khalil Gibran´s writings and the link to what looks like a great website.

His "The Prophet" has been among my favorite books since I was a teenager, I think he has an amazing insight into the human condition and psychology.

They are both from the verb sevinmek - which means "to be pleased", "to rejoyce"

sevindim - sevin-dim - I rejoyced, I was pleased

sevin-miþ - this means "s/he rejoyced, is/was pleased (reportedly)" in the -miþ tense

There´s no relation between ask and question because they are 2 different words. You can make a verb out of the noun "question", simply by sticking "to" in front of it - "to question" - and in English, most of the time you can make verbs out of nouns either by using "to" or auxiliary verbs (do, make, have, etc.). Of course in many cases you´d be making words up (I can imagine forming a verb out of the noun "liver", for example, that would make any sense), but that doesn´t mean that forming verbs out of nouns is all random in English.

I think it is misleading and dimissive to say that there´s no rules in Turkish to form verbs out of nouns. There are certain "verb-forming" suffixes in Turkish that can be addedd to certain root words (such as nouns or adjectives) to make them into verbs, for example suffixes such as: -aþ, -la, -lan, -landýr, -laþ, -sa, etc. There´s also plenty of examples where verbs are formed out of nouns (especially those of foreign origin) by using the so called auxiliary verbs, such as etmek, vermek or olmak.

Whereas I do agree that it´s counterproductive to try to exactly match one language to another, and when it comes to forming verbs out of nouns it´s probably much easier to learn the verbs separately instead of trying to create them out of nouns, I do think it´s important to at least be aware of the above to be able to recognize it, in such a word, as for example cevap-la-mak, which has the -la verb forming suffix.
