You are right at this point.
Kediyi gÃ¶rÃ¼yorum=I see the cat or Kediyi gÃ¶rmÃ¼yorum=I don't see the cat. But,

'KediYi(=kedinin kendisini)gÃ¶r(m)Ã¼yorum/I (don't)see the cat itself.' is different than 'KediSini gÃ¶r(m)Ã¼yorum/I (don't) see his/her cat.'
