Maybe ´surrender your weapons´ or ´put down your weapons´.

Never surrender

Obviously to Ginger it does...

Dear Ginger, if there are a 100 ways to slaughter an animal, then there are a 100 ways animals are slaughtered in Turkey. Also fortunately (at least for me) there is bacon and booze everywhere. It´s a free country.

I dont think bacons are made of pigs here

Hello

I was wondering if all food in Turkey is 100% halal?

Do they slaughter the animals islamically? Do they recite besmele (bismillah) before slaughter?

Also, do they hand-slaughter or machine-slaughter the chickens?

I would appreciate any help...

Thanks

I dont know if everyone slaughter the animals Islamically but you can be sure that you can not easily find any product including pig meat or fat.

Sigara içer misiniz?

do you smoke?

Hayır, teşekkür ederim, içmiyorum

No thank you , I do not smoke

Why do you use içmek  which can be used for drinking ,eating etc  instead of using the negative of sigara

or why not answer.... I do not take

also if I translate the question do you smoke  using içer it would be defined as do you comprise cigarette  which means something different altogether.

to drink: iç(mek)

to comprise (içer)mek

aorist tense of iç(mek): içer

aorist tense of içer(mek): içerir

So there is no possibility of a confusion between them.

If  someone offer you a cigarette, you can say "kullanmıyorum" It means "I dont use". If you are not a smoker you can answer that way.

I feel so dumb. I still don´t quite get it

Instead of trying to understand grammar, I would start to read simple Turkish texts and try to understand them. I dont really think focusing on learning grammar can help you to learn the language a lot. For example I dont know how to conjugate a verb in Farsi or I dont even know the difference between past and present tense but when I read a simple Farsi text, I can still guess what some sentences mean. I am sure in time my grammar knowledge will increase too. Yep this is my manifesto for the learners. Do as I say
