Quoting Starstuck

I was wondering if anyone could explain why Gitmek is said as Gidiyor instead of Gitiyor. Also, how do you know when to change the t to a d.

Only four verbs change their root spelling from -t to -d when adding a vowel :
gitmek - to go - becomes - gidiyorum - I am going
ditmek - to shred - (this verb is often used in recipes) - becomes - didiyor - he shreds
tatmak - to taste (of) - becomes - tadıyor - it tastes (of..)
etmek - to do/perform - becomes - ediyorum - I am doing etc.
Note: This verb - etmek - includes all verbs containing - etmek such as kaybetmek - to lose and affetmek - to pardon, to excuse
All other verbs retain their original spelling, for instance:
bitmek - to end - bitiyor - it is finishing - [NOT bidiyor]
batmak - to sink - batıyor - it is sinking - [NOT badıyor]

Aramızda onun adının geçmesi beni hasta ediyor.

Between you and me,hearing his name makes me sick.

Öbür ay bir gösterimiz var. Heyecanlıyım biraz.

The month after next we have a show. I´m a little excited.

.Evet o konuda haklısın ve açıkçası önemli de değil.

Yes,you´re right on that subject and frankly, it´s not important either.

.Onunla ilgili birşeyler var ve ben herşeyi bilmiyorum.

There are things going on with him and I don´t know everything.

Ne bu aranızdaki oyunlar onu da bilmiyorum. Bilmekte istemiyorum. Arkadaş değilsin ama Onun notlarına da yorum yapmadan duramıyorsun.

What are these (?) games-I don´t know that either.I don´t want to know. You are not a friend but you can´t stop without explaining/interpreting (his notes too)

Bazen bana kaba davranıyorsun ama artık buna kırılmıyorum çünkü sen böylesin. Ben bu kez herşeyin değişebileceğini ümit ediyordum ama sen bana öyle mesaj atınca aslında bazı şeylerin hiç değişmeyeceğini anladım

Sometimes you act horribly(vulgarly) towards me but I´m not hurt by this anymore because you are like that. I was hoping that this time you could change but when you sent me that message I understood that some things will never change.

My try-first part
