It´s quite amusing to read. Luther uses colorful language and sounds surprisingly modern. All the wicked get their share.

Martin Luther was more pissed with the Pope than he ever was with Muslims. He didn´t see fighting the Ottoman empire  -  which was of course an important issue in 16th century Europe  -  as a holy war but secular self defence.

Many of the principles of protestant reformation were in line with Islam, like leaving the job of forgiving sins for God only. It´s not very surprising that a learned person was aware of these similarities.

Another thing is if Luther would accept the teachings of modern protestant churches which resemble self-service stores of faith more than believers´ communities.

My theory is thirty per cent of people are potential idiots everywhere. That´s about the maximum support populist parties can gain in European countries and usually they have to do with less. Other forces in the society can keep these people in order but in important matters cooperation is needed.

What is more worrying is the atmosphere which in my opinion has changed. It has become more accepted in my country at least to open one´s mouth for racist insults. Things that you heard from bums before you can hear from ordinary looking people. If one person in a full city bus calls a Somali mother an animal when she enters the bus and the rest of the passengers stay quiet I think the society is sick. They call it criticism of immigration but it is pure racism.

I am not a native English speaker either. Don´t trust it too much.

In the grammar book which I read now four derivational suffixes are mentioned as productive:

1. N > N -li

2. N > N -lik

3. N > N -siz

4.a) V > N -(y)ici

b) N > N -ci

It seems that productive derivators are quite specific in meaning. You could almost translate them into English.

Thinking about derivation always gives a good headache because it is basically random. The same suffix doesn´t give the same meaning always, you can´t sum the meaning of the word from its constituents. The only thing you can usually see is the part of speech it represents.

Productive derivational suffixes are easier, though. Such as -li. I have understood but I am not sure that it attaches to just about any noun and in a certain context the result is always in place and the meaning can be understood even though you never heard the word before. It´s like something between derivation and inflection.

But somehow it is amazing that the place of his death is hidden in those small suffixes.
