Here is the sad truth, we humans are not timeless creatures, we don´t have Godly qualities either. We are as insignificant as microbes. Living means dying and disappearing. All that you will ever see is confined to the days you will spend on this Earth. When your day comes you will die and your further existence will be isolated from "you" which will linger on  in other people´s minds for a while and eventually disappear completely.

This is not a truth. This is a belief too. Our bodies decay but what about our soul? And how can you be so sure our soul disappears too after dead? What if we are like the guy in Truman Show and there is another reality outside of our small world? And like in the movie what if some good people try to warn us about this truth? What if death is the door opening to another reality? You can only get answers after you die. And what we do now is only speculation. The things we speculate are not the facts but our beliefs. You are not different than a Muslim. You defend your beliefs like him.

It seems a bit strange... requiring a prayer room by law, when nobody asked for it. And would these prayer rooms be suitable for all religions? With all materials that are required for praying for non-muslims as well? I think not... if this law pulls through it is a very bad step for Turkey.

I think it is not a big deal as long as they don´t force people to pray. And I am sure nobody will use mescid in such a place because it is absurd.

"aman" means mercy in Arabic and sometimes we use this word with the same meaning. But it is also an expression that tells:

1)you are bored, you are frustrated, you don´t care. EX: Aman, bana ne.

2) and we use it sometimes as an expression that invites the other person to be careful and cautious. EX: Aman, dikkat et.

I will be glad if muslim praying is allowed in hagia sophia again. in other words, mosque again.

All you need to do is to add a carpet and cover pictures maybe with a curtain at the prayer time which is less than two hours in a day.

It can be still visited by tourists as sultan ahmet (blue mosque), no need to call it a museum but may be used as a museum too. Actually it is not a proper museum, nothing is displayed there but the building itself is displayed. This is same for all historic buildings, mosques, churches... Being a mosque cannot stop being visited as a historic building like selimiye mosque.

Why mosque but not church. Because most of the Turks are muslim and wants to see it as a mosque. If we were for example in Spain, i would say it might be a cathedral. See Cathedral–Mosque of Córdoba: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathedral%E2%80%93Mosque_of_C%C3%B3rdoba

Two wrongs don´t make a right.

I was raised as a Kemalist too. I lived some part of my life as an atheist. But sufi thoughts effected me a lot and I became a muslim. I had prejudgements about conservative people. This year I started to do my doctorate in a theology faculty. I observe my teachers. They are conservative but they are  good people. They understand humor. They are helpful. Some of them really read a lot and know many things. They are modern. They use technology effectively. My prejudgements blinded me and I couldn´t see how they really were. If there is something to be afraid of, it is not İslam or muslims, it is ignorance and ignorant people. I believe many fanatics are ignorant people and ignorant people can really use violance to make happen what they want. There are ignorant Muslims but there are also ignorant atheists. There are some atheists who would be happy to see all Muslims dead and there are Muslims who wants the same thing for atheists. And not all Muslims have same thoughts about everything. There are many different ideas and interpretions.

We should try to understand eachother. I respect Atatürk but I try to understand what Saidi Nursi wants to tell. I try to be obejective as much as I can. And I know this very well, knowledge is power.

I paid attention to a newspaper headline

Bugün ne pişirsem? ´What should I cook today?´

It seemed to me that there was something wrong with it. The if material -se- which is usually in the subclause is in the main clause here! What is the reason:

1. because it is a question OR

2. because the subclause is lacking?

Think this "se" as a wish clause. It is like "What may I cook?"

Yusuf sees Havva and Küçük Yılmaz in the hotel; apparently he has been deceived. Seeing the love of his life in the arms of another (man) confounds him. Havva is very happy, because she took revenge on Yusuf. However, Küçük Yılmaz is not aware of the fact that he is starting not to be her lover. Talking to Sultan Reşit, Şeref and Remzi Küçük accidentally find out the thruth about Yılmaz. Şeref is shocked and Sultan is puzzled and dumbfounded. Bade fails everytime he tries to escape from Mehmet. Mehmet says that the baby knows [she/he/it] is from him. Bade denies, but the truth is in the middle. Havva tells Şeref that she and Küçük Yılmaz loved each other. However, Şeref is very angry, his forgiveness won’t come easy. Yusuf decides to come back to the residence; Bade received another blow. Either he will lose this war or he will accept living under the same roof with Havva. As the cold war in the residence continues, Havva’s whole world is again close to be upside down.

I´m still a learner, so you can´t be sure my translation is 100% correct.

I marked the phrases I had problems with in red:

*Sultan ise ne yapacağını bilemez halde kalakalır

Literally it says: "Sultan is petrified in a state which can´t know what to do"

*gerçek ortadadır artık

"the truth is in the middle ever after" ? something like this...

But I don´t know why the word "artık" is placed after the verb. It´s like an inverted order.

*yine alt üst olmak üzeredir

"is again close to be upside down", that´s only my suggestion, I´m not sure.

Please any native speaker review my translation and explain to me the use of the phrases I had problems with

Sufler, I like reviewing tranlations but if you could translate sentences one by one and write your translations under the orginal sentences with a different font, it would be easier for me to control them.

1)Your translation is correct. Kalakalmak means "not to be able to do something", "to be shocked"

2)Ortadadır means " it is obvious"

3)Your translation is correct. Alt üst olmak means "to be very upset" if you use it for a person. Ex: Ayşe altüst oldu.

I will translate the text. But writer´s Turkish is not good. There can be some mistakes in my translation because of that.
