It is more likely that the problem is my English... I ment in Finland dead statesmen are respected too much just like in North Korea. After seventy years it is not so bad if new views are opened in arts and fiction, even if we talk about a national hero. (Well, he is not a hero to everyone.)

Skin colour is not the most important feature we have anyway, is it? And a movie shouldn´t be a look-alike competition.

In a way all double markings are symptoms of this misunderstanding. Like double possessive suffixes in pronouns (kendisi, birisi) or double passives (konulmak, denilmek). The language community doesn´t seem to perceive the first grammatical marking, so they understand it as a part of the stem and add another one just to make sure.

And historically there must be a lot more about this issue. What was the typical shape of old original stems, one to two syllables? Anything longer must be a mixture of old grammatical (> derivational) markers.

So it seems. The noun has eaten the old case marking. It happens a lot.

Onu akşamdan akşama görüyorum.

I see  him/her [only] in the evenings.

Funny that here ABL and DAT do not denote time limits but certain points in time. (I hardly understand myself what I am saying...) I mean it doesn´t mean the time between but only the cutoffs.

These are nice also. Almost the same thing but in a more simple manner:

zaman zaman

yer yer

kapı kapı

ev ev

ara ara

ara sıra.

Because in this movie the national hero, the statue on top of the nation´s cabinet is portrayed as a black African. The leading role is played by a Kenyan actor.

Finns often flatter themselves by calling the country Japan of the North. What comes to adoring dead statesmen we could also compare ourselves to North Korea.

So the direction is double marked here. Sort of.

Interesting.

Not that praying or fasting necessarily would make someone hypocritical. Or leaving them would make you a better person. If you do so you abandon the idea of personal striving.
