what about satılmış?
So far as I remember, the reason they gave strange names such as durmuş, dursun, durdu, satılmış, etc to babies was not birth control but a paganist approach to protect them from evil spirits which were believed to cause baby´s death. As you know in old times the death rate among babies was so high and parents whose previous babies died before or at birth or some time after gave those names to new babies. The verb dur- also means remain, stay (not always stop) and for example dursun means "may (God let him) stay (alive).
Well these theories are both right as there are two reasons for such names. One is as you said depending on the paganist/shamanist old beliefs.
But also it is true that many people who had several children gave names like durmuş, durdu, dursun, yeter, songül, sonnur, etc because they wanted it to be the last child.
Satılmış(male) and (satı is just the opposite. When people who could not have babies prayed at some holy places (like YATIR) and got a baby afterwards, they gave Satı and Satılmış names to the kids as they kind of believe that these babies were sold...
However according to the shamanist theory, when someone´s several babies died, then they believed an evil spirit that is waiting at their homes was responsible for that. That´s why when they have another baby, to deceive the evil spirit they were first taking the baby to someone else´s house and later they were "buying" the baby back... So now this was also a "sold" baby...
Strange stories behind names, but these names are not common anymore.
