Şehrimde yaşıyor.

Literally correct but we would rather say "benimle aynı şehirde yaşıyor" (he lives in the same city as me)

thanks all for your reply and I think Ezel is so Intersiting for me i was read about Aşk memnu

but I didnt anterstining of it is story

ezel is newer. it has only one season now. aşk-ı memnu is finished, i think it has 3 seasons. I watched aşk-ı memnu from time to time only, it is a typical love story soap opera. A rich man marries a young and beautiful woman. His young and handsome nephew also lives with them so soon his wife and nephew fall in love and they have a secret affair blah blah.

Ezel is more adventerous, it is about a man who changes his appearance and comes back to get a revenge. They say it resembles "the count of monte cristo" but actually i don´t know this story. Anyway, I think it is one of the best series made in Turkey upto now.

Hey everyone,

I heard someone use this proverb today, but I don´t really understand what it means.  Would be awesome if someone could give me the English equivalent or at least explain what it is.=)  The proverb is,

El terazi göz kantar.

Thanks in advance!

yes the original one is "el terazi, göz mizan" but obviously some people modernized it

It is just  same as  "göz kararı". As your mother tells you how much water to add to the meal you are cooking

it could be either "it is" or "it was" but I think the former fits better here

Whats the difference between "bakayım" and "bakıyım" ? Did i write wrong ?

the right version is bakayım but it is pronounced as bakıyım, that´s why many people mis-spell it.

Quoting lady in red

How can you say for sure it´s future tense?  For example in a sentence in English: A: Did X arrive ok? the answer from B could be: Yes, it seems he arrived on Monday.

No, then it would be : Evet, pazartesi gelmiş. (NOT geliyormuş

think it just like "geliyor", then it would be present or future , right?

(Şimdi geliyorum - I am coming now OR Yarın geliyorum - I am coming/will come tomorrow)

Here "miş" only adds the meaning of "it seems", no past meaning.

(Şimdi geliyormuşsun - It seems you are coming now OR Yarın geliyormuşsun - It seems you are coming/will come tomorrow)
