Quoting Abla

Are you always talking to each other this way? Four posts just changing kisses oh no.

Anyway, it is funny to see that illogicalities of colloquial language follow very much the same patterns in different languages. This might be a useful thread to continue. For once we can pay attention to the mistakes Turks make themselves.

Instead of attacking poor learners all the time.

Turks love kissing each other. It is an old tradition And I always support learners. If someone says I attacked him/her,  I will apologize

Yoldan geçen 100 kişiyi çevirip sorsan heralde 99´u duymamıştır bu kelimeyi. Smile

İnsan her gün yeni birşey öğreniyor. Tam bir bulmaca sorusu olabilir aslında.

Valla  bu kelimeyi duymak ve görmek inşallah bir daha nasip olmaz. Bu tür kelimeler ben de çarpıntıya neden oluyor

What is the meaning of şapşik?  Couldnt find anywhere

If you want to say someone "silly" in a lovely way, you can use this word. But I never heard it before. Just learnt.

Estağfurullah Hocam. İnsanlara faydamız dokunuyorsa ne mutlu bize.

Burada eli öpülesi bir üstat varsa o da sensin.

Quoting trip

I realized after I signed off the other night that I should have used "-un" on "Pamuk," not "-ın." There is so much to think about in Turkish!

I had thought that perhaps the quotation marks would come off the book title because of a recent exercise here that didn´t use quote marks around "Titanic" when there was a suffix attached.

One last question: The "p" in "kitap" does not need to be come a "b" when the "ı" is added? Is this simply because the quotation marks come in between

Teşekkürler!

Yes. But we will still pronounce it as "b" because we can´t speak with quotation marks
