Quoting Henry

my try as a learner
çok uzaktan geldiysen, If you came from very far away
otur, soluklan, sit, take a breather (rest)
dedi. he/she said
kuraklıktan geçtiysen, if you passed through drought
dikenli yollardan, through the prickly paths
karanlıktan, through the darkness
gölgeden, through the shadows
ıssızdan, through desolation
yüzünü yalayan soğuktan, doğum, through the cold licking your face, birth
acı, doğrularım, korkularım; pain, my trues, my fears
sorulunca yanıtı içimizde olan, while being asked, (if you are a pencil and blank paper)whose answer is inside us
kanımı donduran, which freezes my blood
ısıtan, durduran, which warms and stops it
bir kalemsen, If you are a pencil
bir boş kağıt a blank paper
mutlu aşk varsa da; although there is a happy love
mutlu son yoktur. there is no happy ending.
çocukluğun anıları childhood memories
sırtında ağır örtü, a heavy cloth covering on your back
üşütendir aslında, which in reality makes them (winter nights) feel cold
kış gecelerini the winter nights
süre değil anlattığım, it is not a period that I recounted
her şeyin sonu it is the end of everything
mutlu aşk varsa da, although there is a happy love
mutlu son yoktur there is no happy ending.

Good try Henry. Someone can easily see the structural differences between English and Turkish when he reads this poem.

Bir şey eklemek istiyorum; Abla´nın düzeltmesinin yanında, şöyle de olabilir;

Çoğunlukla bir şey kaybetmeye kaybedinceye kadar değerini anlamıyoruz

ya da;

kaybedene kadar

Quoting Abla

It is about religion. It seemed clear to me from the first sight. What else but God can you describe with attributions like this: the only one who really knows you, your arm and wing, your clear sea, the one you eventually return to?

The addressee has been lost. Despite the fact that she knew what is best for her she kept her own mind and trusted herself to strangers.

Well, I think it could be seen in two ways: the speaker is accusing or he is calling her back in repentance. I chose the latter one because the metaphors are merciful, compassionate, offering a second chance. The speaker is not turning away from a hopeless case but explaining the basics once more patiently.

Yes, this is a possible read. But I couldn´t read it like you because I knew the context. But that doesn´t mean your reading is wrong. Very interesting. We discuss these issues in university

Kıvırcık Ali, Nerdesin (Ölüm seni arar oldum)

My Try for the lyrics:

Izdırabı gül suyuna bandılar
Gülüm seni arar oldum nerdesin
Ayrılığı altın tasta sundular
Ölüm seni arar oldum nerdesin

They dipped agony into rose water.

My rose, I have begun to search for you, where are you?

They offered seperation in a golden bowl.

Death, I have begun to search for you, where are you?

-------------------------------

Ardı olmayanın derdi çok olur
Leşini yemeye kurdu çok olur
Ömrü sürgün geçer yurdu yok olur
Elim seni arar oldum nerdesin

There is going to be plenty of pain for those who have no past.

There is going to be plenty of wolves to eat the carcase.

His Life is going to pass in exile and he is going to be left landless

Sadness, I have begun to search for you, where are you?

------------------------------

Memleketim maraş emekçi adım
Yoruldu gençliğim yoruldu tadım
Kendimi kimseye anlatamadım
Dilim seni arar oldum nerdesin

My homeland is a Maraş, I come from working class.

My youth got tired, my delight got tired.

I couldn’t explain myself to anyone.

My words, I have begun to search for you, where are you?

Good try but don´t let n misguide you. It can be a part of the verb root.

Yes maybe Ezel is suicide but who are open the door for Can

It doesn´t matter because it never happened. Narrator exactly says this. It is pure fantasy what happened after Ezel´s suicide.

Abiler, coşmuşsunuz yürekten kutluyorum... {#emotions_dlg.applause}

I first heard this poem in Deli Yürek tv series. Kuşçu was saying this poem. I was going to high school and it effected me so much. I even remember it after all those years
