From Beginner class 1, section 3, homework 4.

Why is the correct answer ´parkta´ and not ´parka´?

He wants to do to the park, why add ´t´?

Correct answer is parka. Maybe you saw it wrong.
3.

Ali park... gidiyor.

A. parkta
B. parktan
C. parke
D. parka (Correct)

Merhaba.

While reading an article on wikipedia about Turkish type of a kettle, I found a headline saying "Çayın hazırlanması". I know it means "Preparing of tea" but literally "Tea´s being-prepared activity". But what is the difference if I put "çay" as the direct object of the infinitive "hazırlamak", like çay ( or çayı ) hazırlama - "preparing a (the) tea".

Does it make a big semantic difference?

çayın hazırlanması is passive.

çayı hazırlama is active.

I dont think there is a big semantic difference.

This one is not the famous song of Ahmet Kaya. This is another song sang by Cem Adrian and Murat Yılmazyıldırım. And it is simply perfect. Wonderful lyrics.

AĞLADIKÇA

As Long As You Cry

Sessizsin yağmur gibi

You are silent like rain.
Üşüyorsun bir dağ gibi

You are chilling like a mountain
Korkuyorsun kırılmaktan

You are afraid of getting broken
Rüzgardan yaprak gibi

By wind like a leaf.
Düşüyorsun, düşüyorsun

You are falling, you are falling
Kuşatılmış şehir gibi

Like a besieged city.
Susuyorsun, Susuyorsun

You are quiet, you are quiet
İçinden,

Inside you
Bir çocuk ağladıkça

As long as a child cries
Taşar nehirler, ağladıkça

Rivers overflow, as long as he cries
Yarılır gökyüzü, ağladıkça

Sky is split in two, as long as he cries
Dirilir topraktan aşk

Love revives from earth

Sesin büyür deler geçer yırtar geceyi

Your voice gets louder, it pierces and tears the night
Kalbim çarpar kırar döker camdan geceyi

My heart beats and it breaks the glass-made night
Göz yaşların düşer akıtır siyah geceyi

Your tears fall and they drain the black night
Sen ağladıkça, ben ağladıkça

As long as you cry, as long as I cry
Evler tutuşur, alev alev yakar geceyi

Houses catch fire, they burn the night furiously.

Eller açılır, dua dua böler geceyi

The hands get open, they split the night with prayers.
Yağmur, yağmur yıkar geceyi

Rain, rain destroys the night
Sen ağladıkça, ben ağladıkça

As long as you cry, as long as I cry.

Yüzün cennete döner sen ağladıkça

Your face turns into heaven, as long as you cry
Yeşerir topraklar gösterir ellerini sana aşk, aşk.

Earth gets green, love, love shows its hands to you.

Sessizsin, yağmur gibi

You are silent like rain
Korkuyorsun kırılmaktan

You are afraid of getting broken
Düşüyorsun, düşüyorsun

You are falling, you are falling

Dear .......,

Sevgili......,

I want you to know that I care for you deeply. You became  very important to me.

Seni çok önemsediğimi bilmeni isterim. Benim için çok önemli oldun.

I can say you have found a place in my heart. The argument we had has really upset me. I wish it never happened. I have tried so hard to resolve it but it seems you dont want us to talk. You are very depressed at the moment and its hard to see you like that.

Bulent I only want to help you. Please consider the jobs I have found for you. You could earn good money and perhaps you would be much happier. Please do not give up on yourself. I really dont want you to be angry with me, I cant change what happened. I was upset please understand that people dont act rationally when they are upset.

I will not contact you again because I feel like you dont want me to, but please know that you are in my mind and I am thinking of you. If you need me you know I will be there for you. I really wish things were different. It was lovely knowing you, take care of yourself and just remember your mum is waiting to see you, so take one of those jobs and earn the money so that you can go back home and make your mum happy. Dont do it for yourself do it for her.

I will go now tears are filling my eyes, because I dont want to say goodbye to you but I know if I continue to contact you , you will hate me for it. I´m praying for you. Take care of yourself lan.

Şimdi gidiyorum. Gözlerim yaşlarla doluyor çünkü sana elveda demek istemiyorum. Ama seninle iletişimde olmaya devam edersem benden nefret edeceğini biliyorum. Senin için dua ediyorum.Kendine iyi bak lan.

Okay I will rearrange the sentence to ease your suffering

<<Bindiğimiz otobüsün adı Belediye. Üstünde de "Belediye" yazılı çalımlı bir yazıyla

Bindiğimiz otobüsün adı Belediye. Üstünde de çalımlı bir yazıyla "Belediye" yazılı.

The name of the bus we got on is Belediye. And on it, it is written "Belediye" with a fancy writing.

Quoting sufler

Merhaba.

In a set of ebooks with Turkish learning materials I found this short story I dediced to translate, and actually I´m struggling with almost every sentence of the first paragraph already. But I hope with your help I´ll get through it

So, the first part is like:

<<Bindiğimiz otobüsün adı Belediye. Üstünde de "Belediye" yazılı çalımlı bir yazıyla. Millet, "Belediye´ye bindik. Belediye´den indik." diye konuşuyor. Biz de Belediye´ye bindik diyelim en iyisi. (...)>>

So if I were to translate it, the first sentence is clear: "The name of the bus we got on was Belediye". But further it gets tougher.. "With a çalımlı? writing on it that said Belediye?".. Why does the sentence end with "with"? What the "with" refers to? And what is "çalımlı"?

1)The busses were called "belediye(municipality)" because they belonged to municipilaties. At least until recently. Now I guess transportation firms have them. They transport people in cities. We used to shortly call them belediye instead of belediye otobüsü.

2) çalımlı means fancy.

3) Writer is using an artistic style in his text. He changes the normal order of the words. That way he is creating a literary text.

And moving forward: Folks (nation) were talking like "We got on Belediye. We got off Belediye". Let´s also say "we got on Belediye".. the best? Why is there "(its) the best" phrase at end? The best of what do they mean?

4)Best is at the end because of the reason I explained in the third item.

5)Then it is best to say that we get on belediye.

Thanks in advance!
