The elder I am, the better I understand how practical is old turkish tradition of omitting birthday celebrations for audults. How important the day was for me in univercity time and how irritating it is now, 15 years later!

I do not belive the words I hear and I do not like unnecessary presents I get.

Every year I wish to turn my birthday to a regular day. Usually I close my phone and travelling somewhere far, but mails find me even on other part of the Globe.

Hi First of all you didn´t have to seperate "de" in Turkce´de, you simply type Turkcede.Second, your question is little complicated as they don´t use "are you remembering" in Turkish,however if you are seeking a mode a mode translation for a legal intend or so, "do you remember" translates to "hatirlar misin?" not to "hatirliyor musun?".For every day translation yes you may say "hatirliyor musun" for" do you remember" but certainly not the correct translation.Take care

Please help me figure out how to translate "durumu çaktı" in this sentence:

Evinde öldürülen kadının, sokakta vurularak hayatını kaybeden doktora cep telefonundan, "Kocam durumu çaktı, haberin olsun. Dikkatli ol" diye SMS attığı belirlendi.

 

"It was stated that the woman who was killed at her home, had sent a SMS from her cellphone saying "my husband, he/she nailed the situation (?), be informed. Watch out!" to the doctor who passed away by being shot on the street."

This is a newspaper sentence:

"Avrupa Birliği´nden ayrılmak isteyen Ukrayna Devlet Başkanı´na idrarlı protesto!"

what does the word idrarlı mean? Does it have something to do with urine (idrar)?

How can it be an "urine protest"?

But this is not the first time I hear such pronunciation.

In the first line they transcribed it correctly as "dedi", but I also can hear the girl saying "dede" as well... Actually eblove´s post made me start thinking about it

Hmm.. maybe. But for example, listen to this guy pronouncing yedi: http://www.forvo.com/word/yedi/#tr I can clearly hear he says "di" at the end. Contrary to this woman pronouncing dedi - http://www.forvo.com/word/dedi/#tr It´s like a completely different sound! Sounds totally like "dede" to me. (or even dedı !)
