i want only one more try {#emotions_dlg.bigsmile}{#emotions_dlg.bigsmile}{#emotions_dlg.bigsmile}

and i want to know if it can be send to a friend or not ?

No more tries for you If you are a girl you can send it to another girl friend. Because girls like romantic nonsenses. If you send it to a friend from opposite sex, it is like a love decleration

I dont say that; both Tunci and Mehmet111 do a great and hard job here and I thank you both of you; but their contribution are different; it is great for all of us to have such teachers {#emotions_dlg.flowers}

What about my contribution?

Thread: ödevim için alt yazı...

Quoting sufler

Merhaba.

On a website I found such a statement:

"Ödevim için alt yazı hazırlarken bir kelimenin İngilizcesinde değil ama Türkçesinde ikilemde kaldım."

I have two questions in reference to this sentence.

1.) What could it mean "ödev için alt yazı hazırlamak"? I know the word alt yazı only as "subtitles", mainly in movies. But how can one prepare subtitles for their homework?

2.) What is the functions of the possessive suffixes -(s)i after English and Turkish? It´s like "I´m in doubts in a words´s Turkish one, not English one".. That sounds a bit weird.. My guess- are the forms with possessive suffix abbreviations for "..İngilizce ikileminde değil ama Türkçe ikileminde kaldım." Are my assumptions correct?

Thanks in advance.

1) Nice question. Maybe he studies cinema in university

2) You can interprete them such this: English or Turkish meaning of a word

3) Your assumptions are wrong. But I think use of ikilem is not correct in the sentence too.I would say:

Ödevim için alt yazı hazırlarken bir kelimenin İngilizcesi hakkında değil ama Türkçesi hakkında ikilemde kaldım.

I guess you are confused about çıkarmış..Maybe you think -ar is the present tense here but it is not. -ar is a derivational affix here. And it produces new verbs from verbs.  So çıkarmak is a different verb.

Sonra cebinden beş fasulye tanesi çıkarmış.

Then he took 5 bean pieces out of his pocket.

Henry you cant use ler as personal suffix for things or animals. It is not gramatically correct.

In the sentence you translated, not things but people(they) are in a difficult situation.

  • Beyaz Bir Gemidir Ölüm

    Death is a white ship

sen bu şiiri okurken ben belki başka bir şehirde olurum

when you read this poem maybe I will be in another city.

kötü geçen bir güzü ve umutsuz bir aşkı anlatan

    rüzgarla savrulan kağıt parçalarına yazılmış

    dağıtılmamış bildiriler gibi

uzun bir yolculuğa hazırlanan yalnız bir yolculuğa.

like announcements which are getting ready for a long and lonely journey. They were written on papers flying away with wind and they were not delivered to people. They tell about an autumn which passed bad and about a love which is desperate

    çünkü beyaz bir gemidir ölüm

because death is a white ship

    siyah denizlerin hep çağırdığı

    batık bir gemi

a sunken ship which black seas always call.

    sönmüş yıldızlar gibidir

    it is like dead stars

    yitik adreslere benzer ölüm

    death is like lost adresses

    yanık otlar gibi

    like burnt grasses

sen bu şiiri okurken ben belki başka bir şehirde ölürüm

when you read this poem maybe I will be dying in another city.
