Quoting Kassie:

I thought I miss you was Seni özlerim. What is the difference?

Seni özlerim is the ltieral translation of 'I miss you' and is in the aorist tense. It is present time, where as 'Seni özledim' actually is past time, but commonly used to express feelings in the present. It's not something you must try to understand but just accept. If you say 'I missed you' in English, when ur still apart from each other, it might sound like you don't miss that person anymore..but in Turkish it's commonly used.

I still use the present continuous tense to say this though.. Seni (çok) özlüyorum (I'm missing you a lot).

Well this is my favourite Turkish star I just love her!
Good choice

If you ask me the title would mean something like 'With you i stayed a prisoner/chained'. I think it can either mean that she's hooked on him.. but I have a more negative feeling about it.. I think it tries to tell that he keeps her away from the life (choking love ). But I don't know, as I don't know the lyrics. A native should help you out here.

She has another song, Ben sana tutsak (I'm a prisoner to you), and I've been told that it means that she was crazy about him... but still I think this song is meant more negative.

Quoting Erem:

Violence solves nothing. Violence begets nothing but a vicious cycle of further violence.

Erem,

I agree.

I've never been slapped nor spanked by a teacher. The idea itself! In Holland a long discussion about the 'correcting slap' is going on, whether this should be forbidden at all or whether it's acceptable. I for myself wonder about it too.. I think if a parent 'softly' slaps on the hand of his son or daughter, this should be accepted. Because it has the responsibility over that child ánd raises it. But don't we give away this responsibility by sending them to school? This is what I keep asking myself.

But still I don't think one should be physically punished. As I said, I've never been slapped or spanked by a teacher and I've always respected them. The one who would hit me would definitely loose the respect I had.

I think Erem is right in rewarding the good things. It is prooven to be a good sollution for the problem.
Thinking of myself.. when I still went to highschool (hahahaha lovely to say, sounds like it's years ago ), I was always too late.. I usually skipped the first 2, sometimes 3 classes. I just preferred my bed over those lessons. Then we had a new tutor, whom I respected a lot. He set up the following arrangement: each morning I had to come to his office first and write down at what time I entered the building. If I came on tiem a whole week, I would get a morning off the next week.
Since then I've always been on time. Because I respected the teacher and felt teh responsibility to go on time, as he set up this whole thing for me.

Also, a problem comes up about the spanking/slapping. You can only 'slap/spank' children on a certain age.. once they grow older they will not accept this anymore. Where will you put the limit and what to do when that limit is reached?

But those children mentioned before, who shoot their own classmates and tutors.. spanking really wouldn't have stopped that. Nor would have rewarding good behavior. It's much deeper and unfortunately I have no idea what a proper sollution could be.

I think that educational system on the pc will become normal in the world within years.. in Holland they are experimenting with it and my school has gone pretty electronic already as well too. You can choose your own schedule of lessons within certain rules and you do this by loggin in at home, giving your name and your 'code' and then you can electronically pick lessons for the next week.

About books going on the pc.. I for myself find that very annoying. I study way better from a book than from information on the screen. Ofcourse I could print the papers that will be sent to the pc.. but in the end I will have more personal costs than when I 'borrow' books from a schoolsystem.. in which you wouldn't have to buy al the books new..

I just made some calculations and I came to the conclusion that if I spend my money carefully in Türkiye, that 5 years of living and going to University in Türkiye, is the same price as studying 4 years in Holland wíth a scholarship of about €3000,- a year

Despite the fact in Holland I would also have a parttime job and be able to contribute to the costs, which I can't in Türkiye.. I think when I tell t his my parents, it's good news!

How difficult/easy/trustworthy is it to loan money in Türkiye from a bank?
