Quoting yilgun-2010

ÇOCUKLUĞUMUZDA...

In our childhood

Bizim çocukluğumuzda annelerimiz çalışmazdı.

Our mothers wouldn´t work in our childhood

Okuldan eve geldiğimde boynumdaki anahtarla kapıyı hiç açmadım.

I never opened the door when i came from school with the key that hanging on my neck

Hatta Babanım bile anahtarı yoktu.

Even my father didn´t have the key

Annem evimizin bir parçası gibiydi, hep evdeydi.

My mother was like a part of our home, she was always at home

Her yere birlikte giderdik, zaten öyle çok da gidilecek bir yer yoktu ki.....

We would go to everywhere together, anyway there wasn´t many place to go

En büyük eğlencemiz sokaklarda oynamaktı.

Our greatest entertainment was to play in the streets.

Sokakta oynamak diye bir kavram vardı yani.

There was a concept like "playing in the street"

Cafelerde, alış veriş merkezlerinde buluşmazdık.

We wouldn´t meet at shopping centers.

Okula arkadaşlarımızla gider, birlikte çıkar, oynaya,zıplaya yürüyerek gelirdik.
We would go to school with our friends, would go out together,we would come home hopping and skipping

Servis falan yoktu. Ayakkabılarımız eskirdi.

There wasn´t schoolbus. Our shoes would become old.

Hatta öyle olurdu ki; çantalarımızı kaldırımlara koyar oyuna bile dalardık.

Sometimes we would even lose ourselves in the game after we had put our bags to sidewalks

Annelerimiz bu durumu bildiklerinden kardeşlerimizle bizlere ekmek arası bir şeyler hazırlar gönderirdi.

Our mothers would send us sandwiches by our brothers and sisters because they would know the situation

Mahallemizdeki teyzeler Annemiz gibiydi.

The aunts who lived in our neighborhood were like our moms.

Susayınca girer evlerine su içerdik.

When we got thursty, we would enter their homes and would drink water.

Ya da pencereden bize bir sürahi bir bardak uzatırlar, hepimiz aynı bardaktan kana kana içerdik.

Or they would give us a decanter and a glass and we would drink from the same glass until we satisfied.

Kısacacı evine gidip gelen (...ki;sadece çişi gelen giderdi evine)elinde mutlaka yiyecekle dönerdi.

In short who would  go to and come from his/her home (only the ones needed to pee would go to their home) absolutely would return with foods in their hands.

Anneleri o arada çocuğuna verdiği şeyden bizlere de gönderirdi.

Their mothers would send us what she gave her child at that time

Bu bazen bir kurabiye, bazen bir meyve olurdu.

This would be sometimes a cookie, sometimes a fruit.

Cebimizde harçlığımız olduğunda düşmesin diye çıkarır çantamızın üstüne koyar oyun bitince geri alırdık.

If we had money in our pockets we would not want it to fall out, so we would put it on top of our bags, and would pick it up again when the game was over.

Çok garip ama kimse almazdı. Sokaklarımız evimiz kadar güvenli idi.

It is so unusual but nobody would take it. Our streets were safe like our homes.

Düşünce kaldırırlar, kavga edince barıştırırlardı bizi...

When we fell, they would make us stand up and would reconcile us when we fighted.

Polisler gelmezdi kavgalarımıza, zabıtlar tutulmazdı.

The policemen would never come to our fights, would never write down a report.

Then we wouldn´t fight with razors, curved knifes. We wouldn´t know what they were. Our fights would never end with blood. At most we would pull each other´s hair, we would call each other by animal names and we would lose ourselves in the game again.

Birbirimizin suyundan içer, elmasına diş atardık.

We would drink each other´s water and would bite each other´s apple.

Misket oynamaktan parmaklarımız kanar yine de mikrop kapmazdık.

Our fingers would bleed because of playing marble but we would never get sick.

Azar işitip, acillere taşınmazdık. Düşerdik ekmek çiğner basarlardı alnımıza, oyuna devam ederdik. Röntgenlere, ultrasonlara girmezdik.

We would never be carried to emergency services by hearing reproach. We would fell and they would step our foreheads on like chewing bread but we would go on  playing. We wouldn´t go to roentgens and to ultrasons.

Ben bizim çocukluğumuzu çok özledim.

I missed our childhood very much.

Sokaklarımız ruhsuzlaştı sanki.

I think our streets became soulless.

Komşumu tanımıyorum ama evinin camında, temizliğe gelen kadını haftada bir görür kolay gelsin der konuşurum.

I don´t know my neighbor but i see the woman who came for cleaning at the window once a week and i say "May it be easy." and talk.

Onun dışında orada kim oturur hiç bilmem.

Other than that i don´t know who lives there.

Evimizi kendimiz temizlerdik, kapı silmece; bilmem kaç kuruş hepimizin elinde bezler güle oynaya bitirirdik işleri.

We would clean our homes ourselves, cleaning doors, i don´t know how much money was in our hands but we would finish our jobs happily.

Evlerimiz var, içinde yaşayan yok.

We have houses but nobody lives in them.

Parklarımız var, içinde oynayan çocuk yok.

We have parks but no children plays in them.

Ama her yıl sökülüp yenilenen kaldırımlar, lüks binalar, ışıl ışıl vitrinler, girip çıkan yapay insanlar...

But every year pulled out and reconditioned sidewalks, luxe buildings, shining shopwindows, and artificial people who enters and goes out.

Ruh yok, buz gibi buz, bu biz değiliz..

There is no soul, it is like an ice, this is not us.

Tahta iskemlelerimizde oturan yaşlılarımız, onlara dede, nene diye
hatırını soran çocuklarımız yok oldu.

Our old-timers who sat down on the wooden chairs, and children who called them grandfather, grandmother has disappeared.

Ben kapılarında ´vale´lerin, ´bady´lerin beklediği yerlerden hep korkmuş çekinmişimdir.

I am always afraid of and feared the places which vales and bodyguards wait at their doors

Kapısını çarparak örtüyor diye çocuğuna kızıp, taksidini bitiremediği arabanın anahtarını, hiç tanımadığı birine vermek ters gelir bana.

It seems wrong for a person  to give the key of the car which he hasn´t finished its payment to another person whom he/she has never known because he got angry to  his/her child because her/his child shut the door by slamming.

Benim değildir bu kültür.

This culture isn´t my culture.

Ne ruhuma, ne kültürüme ne de cüzdanıma hitap eder.
Nedir bunlar?

It addresses neither to my soul nor my culture and also nor my vallet. What are these?

Reklamlarla desteklenen beyni, ruhu ele geçirilmiş insanlar olduk.

We became people whose brains are supported by commercials and whose souls were captured.

Birbirimize yabancı, yalnızlıklarımızla yaşar olduk.

We became strangers to eachother and we used to live with our lonelinesses.

İyi de neden böyle olduk ?

But why have we become like that?

Biz mi istemiştik?

Had we wanted it?

Yoksa birileri mi böyle istedi?..

Or somebody wanted it that way.

´Her toplum hakettiği gibi yönetilir´derler ya, hakettiği gibi de yaşar diyelim mi?

They say every society is administired according to what it deserves or do we say lives according to what it deserves?

 My try corrections needed.

Quoting ..Laulau..

i tried translating this myself as i havent got a clue what it is about, but i cant make sense of it:

SÖYLENECEK SÖZLER SÖYLENDİ. GÖRÜLECEK OLAYLAR GÖRÜLDÜ. ŞİMDİ SIRA YASAMAKTA; YAŞANABİLİRSE BU YALAN DÜNYADA. YA ÖLÜM YA KALIM. BU İKİ ÇİZGİDEN BİRİ ÇARE. YA DA KENDİNİ KANDIRICAKSIN SADECE. SEN BİR HİÇTİN VE HEP ÖYLE KALACAKSIN.

The words meant to be said was said, the events meant to be seen was seen, now it is time for living if one can live in this hollow world.Either death or life, only one of these two lines is a solution (or cure).Or you will deceive yourself. You were nothing and you will remain that way.

thanks in advance

Corrections needed. I modified my translation and the orginal text.

Quoting zeytinne

You think it was true love

Sence o gerçek aşktı

I think it was a foolishness.

Bence bir aptallıktı

But what exactly really was

Ama gerçekte neydi

What we wanted to be

Ne olmasını istedik

We`ll never know.

Hiçbir zaman bilemeyeceğiz

It was a dream..

Bir rüyaydı

A verse

Bir ayetti

A song

Bir şarkıydı

That we have never sang...

hiç söylemediğimiz

Do you think it was true love?

Sence gerçek aşk mıydı?

I think it was a short foolishness..

Bence kısa bir aptallıktı

If somebody can translate it to Turkish...and also to corect the English I will be greatfull.

Note 1: I think means "ben düşünürüm" but most of the time we Turks say "bence" or "düşünüyorum" instead of "ben düşünürüm"

Note2 : You think means "sen düşünürsün" sometimes we say "düşünürsün",sometimes we say "düşünüyorsun", sometimes  we say "sence" and sometimes we say "sanıyorsun". Context of the text or conversation is important.

I am calling lady in red and sonunda to correct me. You can even correct these last sentences if you want

I modified text and i added notes. Keep on checking this text please because i always modify my translations when i see a mistake.bye.
