Aşık Veysel commemorated on fortieth anniversary of his death

Modern Turkey’s most famous minstrel, Aşık Veysel, was commemorated in Istanbul on the 40th anniversary of his death at an event held at the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall.

Âşık Veysel Şatıroğlu (October 25, 1894 – March 21, 1973), also known as just Aşık Veysel, was a Turkish ministerel  and highly regarded poet of the Turkish Folk Literature. He was born in the Sivrialan village of the Şarkışla district, Sivas Provence, on October 25, 1894 and died on March 21, 1973. He was an ashik, a poet , songwriter, and a bağlama virtuoso, the prominent representative of the Anatolian ashik tradition in the 20th century. He was blind for most of his lifetime. His songs are usually sad tunes, often talking about the inevitability of death. However he does use a wide range of themes for his lyrics; based on morals, values and constant questioning on issues such as love, care, beliefs and how he "sees" the World as a blind man.

Leader of PKK in northern Iraq declares cease-fire.

The leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Worker´s Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, Murat Karayılan, has declared a cease-fire starting on March 23, in a video broadcast during the Nevruz celebrations in Bonn, Germany, according to broadcaster CNN Türk.
 
“We declare a cease-fire starting on March 23. If the [Turkish] Parliament and government do the legal groundwork for a commission, we could withdraw [from Turkey],” Karayılan is quoted as saying in the video broadcast by the Germany-based Kurdish TV channel Nuce TV and published on a website known to have close ties with the PKK. Karayılan also guaranteed that unless PKK militants were attacked, no assault would be launched, according to daily Hürriyet’s report.

Functions of  buffer " n "

1. When a pronoun takes case ending, we put "n" between.

O - n - a   ---->  Ona ----> to him

O - n - dan  ----> Ondan ----> from  him

Bu + n + u    söyledi  --->  He said  this.  

2.  In noun phrases, just after possessive ending.

Selim´in   kitabı + n + ı  aldım.   --->  I took  Selim´s  book.

Babamın  arabası + n  + ı   yıkadım ------> I washed  my father´s car.

3. It is also used before the genitive ending. 

Kapı + n  + ın    kolunu  kırdım. ---->  I broke the door´s  handle.

Sene  + n  +  in    başında  bu konuyu görüşmüştük ---> In the begining of the year, we had discussed this issue.

Bu günlerde  para + n + ın     kıymeti yok. -----> Money has no value nowadays.

"When I come into [enter into] here[there]  I won´t see you here [there] , I am telling you now ! "

ona göre"  does function as kind of warning  phrase, "all right "?,  " I am telling you now".

Temel ile dursun futbolcuymuş.

Bir gün sohbet ederken temel sormuş:

Dursun:

Kim önce ölürse ötekine mektup yazsın. ve dursun ölmüş.

Temele mektup gelmiş:

Temel and Dursun are footballers. 

One day while talking , Temel asked Dursun ;

- Dursun, do you think there is football game after this life ? 

Dursun replies;

- Buddy, I don´t know it either.  But whoever dies first  will write a letter and inform to other.

Dursun dies and goes to heaven.  

Temel receives the letter from Dursun saying ; 

-Dear Temel, I have one good and one bad news for you.  The good news is "there is football in here" , the bad news is " You are in first eleven for this week´s match"

Israel PM ´apologises´ for flotilla incident

Netanyahu also says that Israel has agreed to compensate the families of the victims.

Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has said he "expressed apology" to Turkey for any error that led to the death of nine Turkish nationals in 2010 in the Gaza flotilla incident.  

Note : Bit late apology...But better late than never..
