Ok, as you are so smart what do you say about this verse:

Dünyanın en tuhaf mahlukusun yani, hani şu derya içre olup deryayı bilmiyen balıktan da tuhaf. (Nazım Hikmet)

Isn´t it strange that there is no da after olup here? Doesn´t it look like the negation in bilmiyen concerns olup also?

There may be a misspelling in the latter sentence, but the former with olupta I am sure about because tunci wrote it (or corrected it into this form) a couple of days ago.

Love likes to chase better than to escape,

to long better than to see,

to dream better than to touch.

Such a traitor is love.

Ok, thank you, AlphaF, but what does the locative ending actually bring to the meaning? Wouldn´t it be the same if it was just olup, bakıp?

Well, local conflicts in problematic areas always look better than a straight cross Atlantic intervention. As the Arab League has showed its inability in Syria question which doesn´t surprise me the lot is about to fall over Turkey.

Somehow we are responsible for our neighbors. At the moment Turkey carries this responsibility by welcoming the people who are crossing the border to save their lives.

The question whether your country should join EU or not is too big to be solved by the means of democracy. Most people in every country don´t understand anything about  international relations. Those who have political and economical expertese should decide and that´s what is eventually going to happen in Turkey, too. A referendum would be ok, because it gives ordinary people the feeling that they have made a decision and because organizing a huge event like that will inevitably increase people´s knowledge about the issue. But only a very small group of people is actually qualified enough to discuss the question even.

EU probably needs Turkey more than Turkey needs Europe. I mean even if you don´t like us we like you.

Come on, if you joined NATO what´s wrong with EU?

What is this structure and what does it exactly mean?

I thought ertesi gün means the day after any day specified in the context (it can be before the speech moment even) and öbür gün is the day after tomorrow only. The former is wider in meaning, eh?

Mihrimah Sultan Camisi restore ediliyor

http://www.haberturk.com/kultur-sanat/haber/731355-mihrimah-sultan-camisi-restore-ediliyor

Mihrimah Sultan mosque in Ûsküdar (above) is going through a two-year restoration. The mosque will be repaired, cleaned and fixed from the great domes and minarets to the smallest details of wall ornamentation and the gilt of the holy books.

Mihrimah Sultan is one of the works of Mimar Sinan and it was accomplished in 1548 during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificient like many other landmarks of Istanbul. It was dedicated to the daughter of Suleiman and Hürrem Sultan. They say the architect was hopelessly in love with Princess Mihrimah. Great men do great acts to prove their love: Sultan Mihrimah mosque got a twin in Edirnekapı (below).

Fourteen years after this work  -  it was the first time until that day that he acted without the Sultan’s command  -  Architect Sinan begins to build the second mosque dedicated to Princess Mihrimah close to the walls in Edirnekapı. Even though Mihrimah Sultan was built with two minarets, this mosque was built with only one minaret as a symbol of loneliness.’

Gündüz ve gecenin eşit olduğu 21 Mart tarihinde gün batımında Edirnekapı Camisi´nin tek minaresinin arkasından güneş batarken Üsküdar´daki caminin minareleri arasından ay doğmaktadır. 21 Mart tarihi, aynı zamanda Mihrimah Sultan´ın doğum tarihidir. Ayrıca Mihrimah ismi ´güneş ve ay´ anlamına geliyor.´´ On March 21st when day and night are as long when the sun sets behind the only minaret of Edirnekapı mosque the moon is born between the minarets of Ûsküdar mosque. March 21st was also the birthday of Princess Mihrimah. By the way, Mihrimah’s name means ‘the sun and the moon’.

tunci, I am not a native English speaker but it seems to me that your English flows better than ever. I paid attention to it many times recently. What´s your secret?
