Quoting bod:

They can also be used to form affection......

"baba" means father
"babacık" means daddy

yes, good point! though I don^'t think people call their fathers like "babacık"

excuse my ignorance but why isn't it used? what's the alternative?

"Babişko".

Some people, especially little girls, sometimes addresses babişko to their fathers. it is used in the sense of "Babacığım.". But I don't recommend this since it doesn't look a real word. It may be fictitius word.

How about this one?

"Canım/Bir tanem/Aşkım/Sevgilim/Hayatım/Tatlım/Tek tanem etc.

Tanrı ancak bugün hatırlamış seni, ben bugün de tüm istencimle seviyorum seni. Birlikte daha nice güzel yıllara, mutluluklara... İyi ki doğdun ve iyi ki varsın. Doğum günün kutlu olsun."

Hello mella,

The first contribution is from me. These two nice poems came presently into my mind.

MÜNEVVER'İN DOĞUM GÜNÜ

Yapraklara dallara, yeşillere, allara,
nice nice yıllara gülüm, nice nice yıllara.
Yaprak dala, al yeşile yaraşır,
gayrı bundan böyle vermem seni ellere...

Nazim Hikmet

(The first two lines especially would be suitable for birthday of your friend. You can also use one of Nazim's footnotes taking place his poems. It is about birthday.

"Kesemden vereceğim yoktu, yüreğimden verdim".

Then use sayings about birthday such as "Doğum günün kutlu olsun." I am sure this will make your friend smile when he/she read it.)

Bir Doğum Günü İçin

Göklerin yüzü güldü mü
Dünyaya geldiğin zaman?
Azgın sular duruldu mu
Dünyaya geldiğin zaman?

Güneşler gibi tek miydin?
Ay ışığından ak mıydın?
Böyle nazlı çiçek miydin?
Dünyaya geldiğin zaman?

Yıldızlar halin sordu mu?
Bulutlar selam durdu mu?
Yerlerin kalbi vurdu mu?
Dünyaya geldiğin zaman?

Aşkını candan duymuşum,
Canım yoluna koymuşum.
Tam dokuz yaşındaymışım
Dünyaya geldiğin zaman.

Kimbilir nasıl güzeldin,
Göklerden yere süzüldün...
Benim alnıma yazıldın
Dünyaya geldiğin zaman

Sabahattin Ali

Natlisa,

I don't really know how to thank you. Though I'll try.

Thank you so much for your help. I also want expecially to thank you since you gave me the alternative phrase of it. I am your humble servant.

Quoting deli:

i think its i am pleased with you

Valla ne desem yalan olur but I think yours states a static state while the verb "like" states a dynamic state.

Lyndie,

Bakıyorum döktürmüşsün yine... Pekala, thank you very much for your explanations regarding the use of URGE. I want to declare you my English teacher by your leave. From now on, I will consult you about the tenses of a verb with which I have trouble.(You see I am not consulting you yet, but I will later.) Meanwhile, may I continue to learn the use of those phrases? Thank you very very much again.
