Actually there are some instances where ´neither´ could begin the sentence.

e.g. Neither rain nor snow will prevent my journey  but in the above sentence it wasn´t appropriate.

Just a small thing-

We would normally say ´I want neither to love nor to be loved.........´not begin the sentence with ´neither´.
