Hi turkishcobra, thanks for the great explanation because I really struggle with this ´ki´.

Just one question about the above example, are you saying that you can say "Yerler ıslak dün yağmur yağmadı ki" - "floor is wet but it didn´t rain yesterday" or do you need to use ´ama´ in this sentence?

Thanks, Ally

Hello Ally, you don´t have to use "ama". Because the "ki" at the end of the sentence provides this meaning but sometimes we put "ama" according to the wish; to emphasis in meaning.

thx

I am bit confused between Geçir & Geçer >> [being dyslexic doesn´t help either].  Can somone kindly explain proper usesage so I can hang it upon a hook and try to remember ... a few examples would be very welcome.

For example, what would be the difference between:-

1) "... on yil geçer" [would this be a statement like> ´Ten years passed´ ??? [yani: ten years went by]

2) "... on yil geçir" [would this be an order like > ´Pass ten years´ ???? [yani: suffer for ten years ...]

I know there is a verb ´Gecirmek´  >> But I can´t find the verb ´Gecermek´

Thanks fellows.

Tazx1

Hello my friend,

Geçer is the Simple Tense form for 3rd Singular Person of "Geçmek" verb; which means to pass, to go on.

On yıl geçer means then years pass, ten years go on.

Geçir is the verb stem of geçirmek verb and it is generally used for meaning of "waste, spend time"

On yıl geçir: waste/spend ten years.

Geçirmek is also used to mean "to hit someone"

Suratına bir tane geçirdim : I hit his face strongly

We also use to mean "to accompany somebody till the travel starts" :

Onu otobüse kadar geçirdim : I accompanied her to the bus.

Annem misafirleri geçiriyor : My mother is bidding farewell to the guests.

Sıla - Kenar Süsü

Kenar süsü oldum hayatında,

Yani olmasam da olurdu.

Kaza süsü de verirdin vefatıma,

Yokluğum boşluk yaratmazdı.

Seni aramamam, sormamam,

Bakmadan uzaklaşmam,

Eminim çok hora geçti.

Hurdaya çıktı içim,

Fark ettin mi, hiçe döndüm?

Çürüye çürüye tükendim.

Rezil ettim kendimi,

Dağıttım, içtim, düştüm,

Ona buna ağladım,

İçimden döküldüm.

Gülmeyi unuttum kendimi dinlemekten

Hastalık hastası oldum senin yüzünden.

Translation:

I was an edging in you life,

I mean, there was no matter if I was there or not,

You would make my death look like an accident,

My absence wouldn´t create a space.

Not calling, not asking

And drawing away without looking you,

Was appreciated a lot, I´m sure

Inside of me turned into a junk,

Did you realize, I turned to nothing?

I was exhausted by decaying and decaying.

I put myself to shame,

I smashed, I drunk, I fell down,

I cried for everything,

I bared my heart,

I forgot to laugh,

Because of worrying for myself,

I became hypochondriac because of you.

I study at home, but now B went to Germany and I´m staying my parent´s home:

Evde çalışıyorum ama B şimdi Almanya´ya gitti ve ben ailemin evinde/yanında kalıyorum.

cok guzel cıkmısın beyendim: Çok güzel çıkmışsın, beğendim. (probably said for a pose in a photo)

Hiç çaresi yokmuş gibi mecbur kalanlardan mısın?

Gitmek zor mu senin için?

Mevcut duruma alışanlardan mısın?

Aşk yok mu sence?

Sevişmek herkesle aynı mı sence?

Kalp yok mu sence?

Hayata üşenenlerden misin sen de?

İster kırılıp dökülelim,

İster yok olup dirilelim,

Sevişmeden uyumayalım,

Anlaşmadan ölmeyelim. (x2)

Hiç cesareti yokmuş gibi mecbur susanlardan mısın?

Uçmak zor mu senin için?

Yürümeye bile korkanlardan mısın?

Aşk yok mu sence?

Sevişmek herkesle aynı mı sence?

Kalp yok mu sence?

Hayata üşenenlerden misin sen de?

İster kırılıp dökülelim,

İster yok olup dirilelim,

Sevişmeden uyumayalım,

Anlaşmadan ölmeyelim. (x2)

Translation:

Are from people who are constrained as no redemy?

Is it hard to go for you?

Are you from people who get used to current conditions?

Is there no love in your opinion?

Making love is same with everybody in your opinion?

Is there no heart in your opinion?

Are you people who were too lazy to life?

Even if we are destroyed,

Even if we die and awake

Don´t let us sleep without making love,

Don´t let us die before dealing.

Are you from people who are quiet because of no brave?

Is flying difficult for you?

Are you from people who are even afraid to walk?

Is there no love in your opinion?

Making love is same with everybody in your opinion?

Is there no heart in your opinion?

Are you people who were too lazy to life?

Even if we are destroyed,

Even if we die and awake

Don´t let us sleep without making love,

Don´t let us die before dealing.

Wonderful and hit song of Sıla; a perfect song with a perfect melody and perfect lyrics.

Kim bilir, kim olduk?
Bile bile, göre göre,
Sustuklarımız, kaçtıklarımız ne?

Düşündürmeden durmayan,
Uyku zaten uyutmayan,
Dilde kelamsız, tende selamsız, bu halimiz ne?

Defalarca neşter vurulan,
Sonra geçti deyip sarılan,
Ama hala kanayan yara bende (x2)

Kaç gecedir sırt sırta,
Bizden başka her şey orada,
Sen mi ben mi daha cesuruz ayrılmaya?

Kaç gecedir sırt sırta,
Bizden başka her şey orada,
Sen mi ben mi daha cesuruz ağlamaya?

Who knows, who we became,
Knowingly, seeingly,
What are the things we are quiet and escape from?

That keeps always thinking,

That keeps always awake,
Without words at tongue, without greetings at skins,
What is our that case?

That was touched by bistoury again and again,
That was supposed to get better and bandage,
That but still bleeding wound is at me ...

For nights, back to back,
Everything but us is there,
Me or you, which of us is braver to leave/cry?

Magical melodies from Balaban (Azerbaijani Flute) of Alihan Samedov and a voice of Turkish Pop, Keremcem sing that song:

Nerelere Gideyim? Where Shall I Go?

Bedenimden daha büyük bir yalan

Söylemedim sana, inan.

Bütün hepsi yalan olsa bile,

Ne fark eder bunca sevgiyle?

Son bir defa dön bak ve söyle;

Nerelere gideyim?

Sen yanımda olmayınca.

Gecelerim uzun oluyor,

Sabahlarımda sen olmayınca.

Ah, olaydın, yar olaydın,

Öpüp de sarsaydım.

Başlarken her şey bir rüya gibiydi,

İnan sendin tek sevgilim.

"Git" söylenecek kelime,

Bensizliğe hazır değilsen bile.

Son bir defa dön bak ve söyle;

Nerelere gideyim?

Sen yanımda olmayınca.

Gecelerim uzun oluyor,

Sabahlarımda sen olmayınca.

Ah, olaydın, yar olaydın,

Öpüp de sarsaydım.

Ben sana söylemeden

Sen beni hissetmeden,

Biz denedik ikimiz,

Yoksa bitiyor mu başlarken?

I didn´t tell you a lie,
Bigger than my body, believe me.
Even if all of them are lie,
Does it matter with that love?

Turn back, look and tell me for last time;
Where shall I go?
When you aren´t with me,
My nights are long,
When you aren´t with my mornings.
What if you would be here, my darling,
I would kiss and hug you.

It was all like a like a dream at the start,
Believe me, you were my only darling,
"Go" was the only word to tell,
Even if you aren´t ready to be without me.

Turn back, look and tell me for last time;
Where shall I go?
When you aren´t with me,
My nights are long,
When you aren´t with my mornings.
What if you would be here, my darling,
I would kiss and hug you.

Me, without saying you,
You, without feeling me,
We both tried,
Is it ending at the start?

We call "yansıma isimler" likewise this structure (reflection nouns). Reflection nouns are produced from the natural voice tones:

While jumping rithmicly, it is imagined that you hear a voice "zıp zıp zıp zıp"

Zıp zıp zıplamak: to jump a lot.

Şırıl şırıl akmak: to stream strongly (for a river or something like that)

Gümbür gümbür gök gürültüsü: Very strong thunder.

Güm güm kapı çalmak: To knock the door with creating a high noise.

Çan çan konuşmak: To speak a lot.

Şıkır şıkır oynamak: To dance a lot.

Bas bas bağırmak: To shout with a high voice.

Pat pat vurmak: To hit or touch something with a high noise.

Şakır şakır yağmur yağıyor: It is raining cats and dogs.

Çatır çatır şimşek çakıyor: A lot of and huge lightning flash.
